CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PROGRAMS
This is something that you may wish to do in addition to or instead of the basic obedience program. This course and test is open to purebred and mixed breed dogs. The CGC certification confirms that the dog is able to perform basic commands and is pleasant and adaptable to many situations. Many service dog associations require a CGC certification before continuing education in a particular field. Many people whose dogs have graduated from our regular obedience programs want to go on and train for their Canine Good Citizen Award. Successful completion of the test earns your dog an official Canine Good Citizen certificate from the AKC. You may also purchase custom Canine Good Citizen dog tags with your information imprinted and also CDG imprinted Rosettes, Medals on Ribbons, Patches. Bandanas, Leashes, Pins and Tee Shirts.
This program is officially sanctioned by the American Kennel Club and will teach
your dog to do the following on a leash:
Accept a friendly stranger.
Sit politely for petting.
Welcome being groomed and examined.
Walk politely with you on a loose lead.
Walk politely through a crowd.
Sit and down on command and stay in place.
Come when called.
Behave politely around other dogs.
Demonstrate confidence while being left with a trusted person.
We offer official Canine Good Citizen instruction and testing here at Circle Star Pet Resort. As with all of our programs, at the end of the session we will work with you to learn how to
communicate with your well trained dog. Although we will train your dog to do the preceding behaviors, you will have to be the handler and test with your dog.
Rates for this 30 day program are:
- $1,570 if you want your pet to stay in the Standard Luxury Kennels (plus $5 for Capstar pill).
- $1,870 if you want your pet to stay in the Super Luxury Lodge (plus $5 for Capstar pill).
- $2,170 if you want your pet to stay in the Ultimate Pet Haven (plus $5 for Capstar pill).
- Payment schedule: $100 non refundable deposit is required. The balance is due at check in.
- Save $150 for off season rates if training is done in January, February, or April.
Rates for this 30 day program during off season are:
- $1,420 if you want your pet to stay in the Standard Luxury Kennels (plus $5 for Capstar pill).
- $1,720 if you want your pet to stay in the Super Luxury Lodge (plus $5 for Capstar pill).
- $2,020 if you want your pet to stay in the Ultimate Pet Haven (plus $5 for Capstar pill).
- $100 To take the American Kennel Club’s Official Canine Good Citizen Test. This charge is applicable whether you took the course at Circle Star or not, and whethr you pass or not.
Dogs that complete this course, if registered with the American Kennel Club, should be able to start earning their Companion Dog (C.D.) Title.
